Sunday School Classes for adults are offered during the school year.  There is a class on a book of the Scripture, a topical class, and a women’s class.
St. John Men – Promise Keepers – The St. John men meet each Tuesday evening at 7:30 pm for sharing, Bible Study, prayer and support as Christian men.

The mission of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League is to assist each woman of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in affirming her relationship with the Triune God so that she is enabled to use her gifts in ministry to the people of the world.

All women, members of St. John Lutheran Church, are members of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, the LWML. Their level of participation is their choice.
All women are invited to come and enjoy the sistership in Christ of the LWML.

mite boxMites for Missions, collected at regular intervals by the LWML, is based on the story of the Widows Mite from Luke 21:1-4. “She gave everything she had”. Mite goal for present bien-nium of 2013-2015 is more than $1.8 Million. Mission grants are funded through mites, contri-butions and offerings. Tens of millions of dollars in mission grants have been funded since 1942!



The women of St. John LWML meet the second Tuesday of each month, at the Church, North Fellowship Hall, beginning at 7:00 PM. One or two women serve as hostesses, providing a dessert/refreshments. A Bible Study/Program is shared during first portion of meeting with business discussion following—usually adjournment is before 9:00 PM. It is a time to share to-gether and serve the Lord with gladness!

Women meet on Wednesday mornings from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM to quilt in the Church, North Fellowship Hall. Everyone’s talen’s are welcomed from cutting materials, sewing, or tying quilts that have been sown. This year 136 quilts were sent to Lutheran World Relief for world wide need and distribution. Quilts have also been given locally to the Red Cross, Alaska Family Services and the Office of Children’s Services.

Also the project of putting together personal care kits, by the LWML, was carried out during the year with congregational contributions. Forty-five kits were included with the quilts for LWR. In the past, sewing kits, baby care kits, and school kits have been collected and assembled for Lutheran World Relief.

St. John LWML is also involved in help and projects within the church, from decorating the Church for Christmas to planting the beautiful flowers around the Church grounds in June.

 Quilting – Ladies of St. John gather on Wednesday mornings to make quilts for Lutheran World Relief.   In 2012-2013 about 150 quilts were made which brought love to people in need in our community and around the world.
Lifelight – is a series of classes on books of the Bible.  This class meets during the school year at noon.  Bring leftovers to share.  During 2013-2014 the class will study the gospel of Mark.
Stephen Ministry – Stephen Ministry is a planned approach to provide trained Christian caregivers to people encountering the trials of life.  Stephen Ministers meet the first and third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
Friday Night Bible Study – This long running Bible Study and fellowship Group meets on at church Fridays at 7:30 p.m. before the first and third Sundays of the month.  Contact Melanie Kopperud (745-4318) or Marilee Nufer (745-6528).
Senior Choir – The Senior choir practices on Wednesdays during the school year.  Sara Guhl is our choir director. (250-5995)
Happy birthday LoisChristian Couples Group – A group of St. John members meet monthly (mostly the third Saturday of each month) to study and grow as Christian husbands and wives.  A Marriage Retreat was held in February of 2012 and 2013.  Contact Linda Griese for more information.  (357-0703)
Koinonia – This “Fellowship Group” for those over 55 meets the 4th Friday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at church.  This evening includes a pot luck meal and fellowship activities.  Contact Pastor Richard (746-3919.)
