Jonathan Rockey was born May 10, 1953 in Springfield, Mass. His parents moved to Gainesville, Florida, in 1965 and family is still there. Pastor Rockey went to Lutheran colleges and seminary in Austin, Texas, Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and St. Louis, Missouri. He is married to Kathy and they have four children: Josh, Andrew, Mary, and Tim, and six grandchildren. Pastor Rockey has served as pastor beginning in June 1979 in St. Louis,, Jacksonville, Florida, and Kingsland, Georgia, and now in Palmer as pastor of St. John Lutheran since May 1991. He is known to fish and hunt and golf, and has his Doctor of Ministry from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. His doctoral thesis was entitled, “Fishing for Men While Fishing With Men.”

Ethan Mirly, Director of Christian Education Intern
Ethan arrived in Alaska from Concordia University
Nebraska in January 2018 and is eager to begin his work with Youth and Children at St. John. He is excited to be here and looks forward to a year of adventure, learning and experiencing the great opportunities Alaska has to offer. Ethan is from Cape Girardeau County, Missouri. He has worked at Concordia to receive a double major. So in addition to his DCE Internship, he has a teaching certificate. He recently completed an internship at a Lutheran High School in Metro East St. Louis, teaching PE and Theology. Ethan played baseball at school (a Cardinals fan) and enjoys all activities the outdoors has to offer.
